LAKE BUTLER — During Friday night's District 4-2B opener it looked like Newberry's Ryan Brown and Union County's Deven Perry were playing a game of one-on-one.

But it was Brown, playing on a sore hamstring and an injured shin, who ran 26 times for 111 yards and two touchdowns and added an 89-yard kickoff return for a score who finished with the upper hand.

Perry totaled 184 rushing yards on 22 carries and a pair of touchdowns and also caught a scoring pass for the Tigers (2-2, 0-1). Newberry (3-1, 1-0), last year's Class 2B state runner-ups, has now won three straight meetings with Union County. READ MORE
